When choosing salon stools, it’s important to focus on both comfort and functionality. Consider the design, features, and chosen material to ensure the stools fit the salon’s style and needs. You can explore salon stools here.
Checklist:
When choosing styling chairs, it’s important to focus on seat height – both how high it goes up and especially how low the chair can be pumped. A styling chair should be able to pump down to a 38cm seat height for the shorter hairdressers. You can try Denmark’s largest selection of styling chairs at Just Add People, so you’re sure to find the right chair for you.
The next thing to consider is whether you can get close enough to the client. You work at the chair every day, so it’s super important to maintain good ergonomics. The best way to test this is to roll your salon stool up to the styling chair and sit right up against it – can you get close enough? This is usually not a problem, but some chair designs (especially copies from China) are more angular and don’t provide proper ergonomics. This can lead to shoulder injuries. Simply put.
Do you have clients with long hair? Choose a styling chair with a slightly tilted backrest and a narrow backrest so the client’s long hair can fall freely and not hit the chair back. The slanted backrest makes the client’s head lean further back, allowing the hair to fall freely.
Design and comfort also matter, as many clients remember which chair they sat in. Our best tip is to buy a chair that suits your clients – both in shape and color. Of course, don’t forget ergonomics for yourself and your employees. Explore styling chairs here.
Checklist:
In short: Yes.
Ergonomics is not just a trend you read about in magazines or popular newsletters. Good ergonomics with your styling chairs is crucial for your job satisfaction and well-being every day. Without good ergonomics, you risk shoulder injuries, which unfortunately all hairdressers have either heard about or experienced themselves. I recommend visiting a showroom to try different styling chairs and find one that fits you perfectly. You can try styling chairs in the Nordics' largest showroom for hairdressers here.
Washing units are central to the customer experience in salons where hair is washed regularly. Choose washing units that are not only comfortable but also practical for your staff. This ensures a pleasant experience for both clients and employees. Shop washing units here.
Here are some good points to consider:
1. Choose a chair with an extra deep washing unit so you have plenty of space for the client’s hair.
2. Choose a chair with the shortest possible distance from the stylist to the client’s hair.
3. Choose a chair with built-in massage for increased comfort. Shop here.
Fun fact: The most exclusive salons in the world don’t have washing units with massage but provide a personal massage. For this, we recommend the exclusive and YUME washing unit.
Checklist:
To have an easy workday, it’s important to choose good storage solutions. Choose storage that keeps your tools within reach while maintaining the salon’s look. It’s becoming more and more popular to buy spacious trolleys like the metal table Studio 3 or the slightly cheaper Lab 5. This way, you spend less on cabinets in your back room and invest more in your and possibly your staff’s well-being.
Checklist:
Mirrors are something many choose to save on. Let me save you from a bad purchase. Mirrors not made for professional use are great in a home hallway but don’t work in a salon. When you work with them, you’ll find they can be just like a fun-house mirror at a carnival. If that’s the look you’re after, then you’re braver than me – hats off to that :)
Sorry for the slightly provocative tone, but hear me out: buy good mirrors the first time. I see it far too often, and you end up having to get them anyway. Avoid the bad purchase and invest in good mirrors with professional glass quality.
Checklist:
Proper lighting is crucial for precise cuts and color treatments. Optimize the salon’s lighting to create the ideal working environment. Choose lighting that ensures good visibility and work comfort. You can also advantageously choose LED lighting as they are often the strongest while saving electricity. Color rendering is super important in a salon. Go for light with natural color rendering (>90%) and aim for 3000 kelvin for clear and precise light.
Checklist:
Design the customer area with both style and comfort in mind. From waiting chairs to mirrors – create a space that is stylish and comfortable for your customers, contributing to a positive experience. A trend we see is that more and more choose dining tables and chairs to create inviting waiting furniture for their waiting areas.
Colors and style define the salon’s identity. Carefully choose a color palette and decor elements that create a unique atmosphere and reflect the salon’s character. If you need inspiration, you can visit the Nordics’ largest showroom for hairdressers and explore complete interiors.
To find the ideal inventory for your hair salon, you need to carefully consider your needs. Just Add People offers a comprehensive range of salon inventory focusing on quality and functionality. Invest in good ergonomics – period. It doesn’t matter at all to save 500 DKK if you can only be a hairdresser for a few years because of shoulder injuries. Styling chairs are the most important when it comes to ergonomics. When you choose styling chairs, you should think "ahhh – this is comfortable to stand at." If you find yourself tensing up, they are too high for you. If in doubt, make a day of it. Drive around the country with a friend, eat some good food, visit lots of showrooms, try lots of furniture, put it on the company card :)
I might be a bit biased when it comes to visiting us over anyone else, but hear me out: We are so proud of our house and would love to help you, and you are very welcome to ask for me personally. In the end, the most important thing is that you find the right furniture for your salon so you can have a good working life.
