Yes, especially for colour treatments. Ordinary ceiling lighting often casts shadows that can make a hair colour look different from how it actually is, increasing the risk of misjudging the result during the treatment. A mirror with integrated LED lighting provides even, direct light on the client's face and hair, allowing you to work with greater precision. If you mainly cut hair in well-lit rooms, the difference is less significant, and a regular mirror may be perfectly sufficient. If you are unsure, consider how much of your schedule consists of colour treatments: the more you do, the greater the benefit of having the lighting built directly into the mirror rather than relying on ceiling lighting alone.
Use a soft microfibre cloth and a regular glass cleaner, and avoid strong chemicals or abrasive sponges that can scratch or etch the surface over time. Wipe mirrors near the wash area frequently, as splashes of water and hair products can easily leave marks if they are allowed to dry. If you skip the daily wipe-down, dried-on stains from hair colour or products can become difficult to remove without stronger cleaners, which can ultimately wear down the surface more quickly. Mirrors with wooden or brass frames should also be wiped separately to prevent cleaning products from the mirror surface from damaging the surrounding material.
