Looking for furniture and equipment from Takara Belmont?

Takara Belmont is a Japanese brand with roots dating back to 1921, known for hairdressing chairs, Barber chairs, washing systems and equipment for Head Spa treatments. At Just Add People, you will find a wide selection of Takara Belmont products, from classic series such as Apollo II and Thea to the advanced Yume washing system.

Guide: How to find the right Takara Belmont solution

Takara Belmont covers several areas of the salon. Here are the most important things to consider before you choose.

1. Which part of the salon needs to be equipped?

If you need to replace the styling station, the Thea series or KU is the natural choice. If you are looking for a barber chair, Apollo II and Dainty are the two primary models. If the washing area needs upgrading, the Yume series is Takara Belmont's flagship. If your focus is on Head Spa and wellness, the Spa Mist series and its accessories are relevant. Most salons start with the styling station or washing area, as this is where clients spend the most time.

2. New salon concept or individual pieces of furniture?

If you are furnishing a new salon from scratch, it makes sense to look at several series together, so the finish and frames match across the styling station, barber chair and washing area. If you only need to replace one piece of furniture in an existing salon, a single model, such as Thea or Apollo II, is more often the relevant choice. Therefore, consider whether you are planning a complete solution or a standalone replacement before comparing prices across the series.

3. Investment level

Takara Belmont ranges from a single waiting chair to a complete Yume washing system with a fully reclining position and built-in massage function. The price depends on the series, materials and level of functionality, not just the type of furniture. If you are equipping an entire salon at once, it can pay to consider the total investment rather than only the price of each individual piece of furniture, as the finish and compatibility across the series often make a complete solution more cohesive in the long term.

4. See it in practice before you decide

Because Takara Belmont is an investment designed to last for many years, we always recommend experiencing the furniture in person first. The material of a barber chair, the comfort of a Yume washing unit or the noise level of a hair processor can be difficult to assess from a photo alone, and the difference between two series is often more noticeable in person than in a picture. If you choose solely based on photos, you risk ending up with furniture that looks right but feels wrong in everyday use. Visit our showroom in Viborg, where several Takara Belmont series are part of the permanent display, and assess your options in person.

Popular Takara Belmont products

Apollo II is the classic barber chair with a cast-iron frame that rotates 360 degrees, one of the brand's most recognisable designs. Dainty is the lighter version in stainless steel, an international bestseller for several decades. Thea is an upholstered styling chair available in several colours and with either a cross base or round base. Yume is Takara Belmont's washing system with a built-in massage function and smooth, dampened movement.

Styling chairs from Takara Belmont

The Thea series is Takara Belmont's widest selection of styling chairs, with an upholstered seat and backrest in several colours, from classic black to cognac and orange. The chairs are available with either a black cross base or round base, depending on whether you prefer to rotate the chair freely or want a more stationary look. KU and Clio are two more exclusive alternatives with a more open, timeless design. See the full selection of styling chairs if you want to compare across brands.

Barber chairs from Takara Belmont

Apollo II is Takara Belmont's original barber chair, built on a cast-iron frame and known for its classic, recognisable design worldwide. Dainty is the more modern interpretation, made from stainless steel, which makes it lighter to move and gives it a slightly more contemporary look. Both models suit the classic barbershop atmosphere, but differ in weight and finish rather than durability, as the cast-iron frame is treated for daily use in a salon environment. See our full selection of Barber chairs if you want to compare them with other brands.

Washing systems, Yume series

Yume is Takara Belmont's washing system, designed for a fully reclining position rather than the more upright position you know from a conventional washing unit. The system has a built-in massage function and moves smoothly via integrated dampers, so both positioning and raising the client take place without jolts. Yume is available in several versions, including Yume DX and Yume Espoir, which differ in upholstery and functionality. See the wider selection of washing units if Yume is not the right match for your salon.

Head Spa and wellness equipment

Spa Mist II is Takara Belmont's hair processor, operating at just 40 degrees and using ultrasound to create an extremely fine micro-steam that gently penetrates the hair. The system supports several types of caps for colour, perm and regular shampoo treatments, as well as accessories such as an aroma diffuser and manicure shield if you want to expand into more types of treatments. Head Spa is a growing part of many Danish salon concepts, and you can read more about how it works in practice on our Head Spa page, or see the requirements for Head Spa certification.

Hair processors from Takara Belmont

Care Dry G is Takara Belmont's hair processor, built with a rotating fan that circulates air evenly around the hair during drying. The model is available with a chrome cross base and works well at a fixed station where the client sits after their treatment while waiting for colour or a perm to develop. See the full selection of Hair processors if you want to compare them with other brands and price ranges.

Waiting chairs from Takara Belmont

Shiki is Takara Belmont's waiting chair, with an open, timeless design that suits the waiting area of an exclusive salon or barbershop. The chair is available in several colours, including beige with champagne-coloured legs and brown with black legs, allowing it to match the rest of the interior. See our full selection of waiting furniture if you want to furnish the entire waiting area.

The history of Takara Belmont

Takara Belmont was founded in Osaka, Japan, in 1921, originally as a foundry. When the company began receiving orders for cast parts for barber chairs, founder Hidenobu Yoshikawa began producing complete chairs himself in 1931. Because Takara Belmont manufactured all the parts itself, the company was able to quickly improve the chairs based on customer needs, and in 1962 it launched the world's first electric barber chair. Its history of more than 100 years is part of the reason why Apollo II and Dainty still build on the same fundamental, thoroughly tested design today.

Frequently asked questions about Takara Belmont

What is the difference between Apollo II and Dainty?

Apollo II is the original barber chair with a cast-iron frame, giving it a heavier, more classic feel and one of the brand's most recognisable designs. Dainty is made from stainless steel and is therefore lighter, with a slightly more modern look. The difference is in weight and style, not durability, as the cast-iron frame is specifically treated for use in a salon environment and withstands daily disinfection just as well as stainless steel. If you are unsure which one is right for your barbershop, you can see and try both models in our showroom.

What is the Yume series?

Yume is Takara Belmont's washing system, designed for a fully reclining position during hair washing, unlike a conventional washing unit where the client typically sits more upright. The system has a built-in massage function and moves smoothly via integrated dampers, making it a more relaxing experience for the client and a calmer working experience for you, as you do not have to manually restrain the movements. Yume is available in several versions, including Yume DX and Yume Espoir, which differ in upholstery, colour and functionality, allowing you to adapt the investment to the level of luxury you want to offer in your washing area. If you are unsure which version is right for your salon, you can experience the difference in our showroom.

Do you sell spare parts and accessories for Takara Belmont furniture?

Yes, we carry a wide selection of spare parts and accessories, including footrests, neck cushions and caps for the Spa Mist system. If you already have a Takara Belmont model and are missing a specific part, you are welcome to contact us, and we will help you find the right spare part for your model. This applies to both older and newer series, so you do not necessarily have to replace the entire piece of furniture if only one part needs replacing. If you are unsure which model you have, you can send us a picture or the serial number, if you know it, and we will find the right part together rather than having you guess at compatibility yourself.

Can I see the Takara Belmont furniture in your showroom?

Yes, several Takara Belmont series are part of the permanent display in our showroom in Viborg, where you can experience the materials, comfort and finish in person before deciding. This is particularly useful for an investment such as a barber chair or washing system, where the difference between models is often easier to feel than to see in photos, and where a wrong decision can be expensive to rectify afterwards. We recommend booking an appointment in advance, so an adviser can show you the relevant series, compare them side by side and answer your questions along the way, instead of having you navigate the extensive selection alone.

What warranty is available on Takara Belmont furniture?

You receive at least a 2-year warranty on all Takara Belmont products, whether it is a barber chair, styling chair or washing system. The warranty covers manufacturing defects in the frame, mechanics and upholstery, so you are covered if something breaks during normal use in the salon. This also applies to more advanced components, such as the motor in a Yume washing system or the fan in a hair processor, not just the purely mechanical components. If something breaks within the warranty period, simply contact us and we will find a solution together, rather than leaving you to pay for the repair yourself.
