Are you looking for a hair processor for your salon? A hair processor distributes heat evenly around the hair, unlike a handheld hairdryer, and is an essential part of many salons’ colour, perm and hair treatment services. At Just Add People, you’ll find hair processors on stands and for wall mounting, from brands such as Olymp, Takara Belmont and Artem.
Here are the most important things to consider before making your choice.
A stand-mounted hair processor has wheels and can be moved around the salon, making it flexible if you have several stations or often rearrange the layout. A wall-mounted hair processor is fixed in place and can be pulled out when needed and pushed back afterwards, so it doesn’t take up floor space. If you have a smaller salon where every square metre counts, wall-mounted is usually the best solution. If you have plenty of space, or the hair processor needs to be used at several different stations, a stand-mounted model offers greater flexibility.
A handheld hairdryer blows hot air directly at one section at a time, increasing the risk of overheating parts of the hair while other sections remain cold. A hair processor instead surrounds the entire head and distributes the heat evenly, giving a more uniform result. This is particularly important for colour and perm treatments, where a stable temperature is essential for the finished result. If you choose a model without good heat distribution, you risk uneven colour results, even when using the right product.
Unlike a hairdryer, which you have to hold continuously, a hair processor is 100% hands-free. This means you can welcome a new client, cut hair or continue styling another client while the first one sits under the processor. If you have a busy schedule with several clients at the same time, hands-free operation is a real time-saver. If you typically work with one client at a time from start to finish, the benefit is smaller, but it still relieves strain on your arms and shoulders over a long working day.
During colour treatments, even heat helps the colour develop evenly, resulting in a longer-lasting finish. During a perm, the heat ensures that the curling cream is activated correctly, giving more defined curls. For hair treatments, the heat opens the hair cuticle, allowing moisture and nutrients to penetrate deeper into the hair shaft. If you regularly offer these treatments, a hair processor is therefore not just a convenient product, but a tool that affects the quality of the result itself.
Modern hair processors are significantly quieter than older models, meaning clients can relax, read or use their phones without being disturbed by a loud humming noise. The heat is also often regulated more evenly, so the hair dries without burning or uncomfortable hot spots. If you choose an older or cheaper model without a focus on noise reduction, you risk making the experience feel less premium, even if the drying result itself is good.
The price varies depending on the brand, features and whether the processor is stand-mounted or wall-mounted. A simple model without additional features is often the most budget-friendly choice, while a model with several heat settings and better noise reduction from a recognised brand such as Takara Belmont costs more. If you need to equip several stations, it can pay to consider the overall solution rather than just the price of each individual processor.
HairMaster 4 from Olymp is one of our best-selling hair processors and is available both on a stand and for wall mounting. Care Dry G from Takara Belmont is available in three colours with a chrome cross base and is often chosen by salons looking for a more exclusive look. Rollerball-F, also from Takara Belmont, is likewise available on a stand and for wall mounting. Speed-up from Artem is a budget-friendly alternative for salons that primarily need the basic function.
A stand-mounted hair processor has wheels and can be moved around as needed, making it suitable for salons with several stations or a layout that changes over time. Most stand-mounted models are height-adjustable, so they can be adapted to different chairs and clients.
A wall-mounted hair processor is fixed to the wall and pulled out when needed. It is the obvious choice for smaller salons where floor space is limited, while also creating a clean, tidy look when not in use.
Olymp supplies the HairMaster 4 series, which meets the basic need for a reliable hair processor at a reasonable price. Takara Belmont, the Japanese brand, is behind Care Dry G and Rollerball-F, both known for high quality and low noise levels. Artem supplies Speed-up, a budget-friendly alternative for salons with a limited purchasing budget. View the full brand overview if you want to compare more manufacturers.

A stand-mounted hair processor can be moved around and is suitable if you have several stations or a layout that changes regularly. A wall-mounted model is the best choice if space is limited, as it can be pushed against the wall when not in use. If you have just one fixed station with plenty of space, the choice is mainly a matter of style and preference. If the hair processor needs to share space with other functions in the same corner of the salon, however, the wall-mounted solution is usually the better option.
Yes. The heat from a hair processor helps open the hair cuticle, allowing moisture and nutrients from the hair treatment to penetrate deeper into the hair shaft than they would at room temperature. This makes the treatment more effective and the result more noticeable for the client. Many salons therefore actively use their hair processor as part of their hair treatment and conditioning services, not just for colour and perms, which are the treatments it is most commonly associated with. If you already offer intensive conditioning treatments as part of your range, it is therefore worth marketing the hair processor as part of the overall experience, rather than just as practical equipment in the background.
It depends on the treatment and the specific product you use, so there is no single answer. For colour and perms, you normally follow the product manufacturer’s stated processing time, while a hair processor is often used for a shorter period during hair treatments to boost absorption. If you are unsure about the duration for a specific treatment, the product’s own instructions are always the correct source, rather than a general rule of thumb. If you underestimate the processing time, you risk a weaker result, while too much time under the heat can, in the worst case, place unnecessary strain on the hair.
Wipe the processor regularly with a damp cloth and mild cleaning agent to keep it hygienic and free from product residue from colour and hair treatments. Avoid abrasive sponges or strong chemicals, which can damage the surface or ventilation openings over time. If you skip regular cleaning, dried product residue can eventually affect airflow and therefore the drying function itself. If your model has a replaceable filter, such as the HairMaster series from Olymp, you should also check and replace it regularly so that airflow does not weaken over time and unnecessarily extend the drying time.
You get at least a 2-year warranty on all hair processors, whether they are stand-mounted or wall-mounted. The warranty covers manufacturing defects in the heating element, fan and cross base or wall bracket, so you are covered if something breaks during normal use in the salon. If something breaks within the warranty period, simply contact us and we’ll find a solution. Please note that our general 14-day right of return does not cover made-to-order items, which is worth keeping in mind if you order a model in a specific colour or configuration.
