A saddle stool opens the hip angle and provides a more active, upright sitting position than a regular salon stool. At Just Add People, you’ll find saddle stools from Comfortel and Solida Furniture, with and without wheels, in black, tan, brown, beige and leopard.
There are four things worth considering before you choose.
Comfortel’s Saddle series stands on a fixed chrome or black Cross base, providing a stable, non-movable base at a fixed station. Stella from Solida Furniture, on the other hand, comes with roller wheels, so you can easily move around the client during cutting or treatment without standing up and moving the entire stool. If you work around the client a lot, for example during colouring or more detailed work, a model with wheels is often the more practical solution. If you prefer a fixed, stable base that stays in place, a Cross base is the better choice.
Comfortel’s Saddle series has a saddle seat in vegan leather and is available in black and tan. Stella from Solida Furniture offers a wider range of colours, including black, brown, beige and a striking leopard pattern, for those who want a more personal look in the salon. If you choose a neutral colour such as black or brown, the stool will suit most interiors, while leopard is a deliberate statement that requires the rest of the salon to carry the look.
The saddle shape opens the hip angle to around 135 degrees, compared with approximately 90 degrees on a regular salon stool, relieving pressure on your back and improving blood circulation in your legs. You notice this most clearly after several hours of continuous work, when a regular stool often causes you to unconsciously lean forward and strain your lower back. If you stand or sit at your station for much of the day, the ergonomic benefit is greatest, while the difference is less noticeable during shorter working days.
Saddle stools are used just as much in beauty clinics as in hair salons, as the active sitting position is beneficial for any work where you sit close to the client for longer periods, whether cutting hair, doing nails or providing skin treatments. If you have a clinic with several types of treatment, a model with wheels is often preferable, allowing you to move freely between different parts of the treatment without having to stand up.
Saddle Black from Comfortel is a black saddle stool with a chrome Cross base and a saddle seat in vegan leather. Saddle Tan, the same model in a warmer tan colour, creates a softer look. Stella from Solida Furniture is available in several versions, including roller wheels and upholstery in black, brown, beige or leopard, and is the most flexible model if you want to move freely around the client.
Comfortel is behind the Saddle series, known for its simple design with a saddle seat in vegan leather and a Cross base. Solida Furniture supplies the Stella series, with a wider selection of colours and upholstery, as well as the option of roller wheels.
If you’re unsure which solution suits you best, it may be worth comparing it with our round salon stools or the full selection of salon stools. While a saddle stool offers a more active and ergonomic sitting position, some hairdressers prefer the classic, simple design of a regular salon stool.
We have been helping hairdressers and clinics for more than 30 years, and 96% of our customers would shop with us again or recommend us to others. You get the same four fixed benefits, whatever saddle stool you choose:

Unsure which saddle stool is right for you? Try them in our showroom in Viborg, where Klaus Østergaard can help you make the right choice.
A saddle stool has a narrower, raised seat shaped like a saddle, which opens the hip angle and provides a more active, upright sitting position. A regular salon stool has a flat or slightly angled seat and a more passive, reclined position. The difference is most noticeable over a full working day, when a saddle stool provides more back support, while some people find a salon stool more relaxing to sit on for shorter periods. If you’re unsure, it can be helpful to try both types in the showroom before making your decision.
A model with wheels, such as Stella from Solida Furniture, makes it easy to move around the client without standing up, which is practical when colouring or providing treatments where you work from several angles. A model with a fixed Cross base, such as Comfortel’s Saddle series, provides a more stable base that stays in place if you mainly work in front of the client from one fixed position. If you work alone at a fixed station for most of the day, a Cross base is often sufficient, while a busy clinic with several types of treatment will typically benefit most from wheels.
Yes, saddle stools are used just as often in beauty clinics as in hair salons, as the ergonomic benefit applies to any work where you sit close to the client for longer periods. During nail and skin treatments, where you often sit in the same position for a long time, the open hip angle can make a noticeable difference to your posture throughout the day. If you have a clinic with several treatment rooms, a model with wheels can make it easier to use the same stool across different rooms.
You get at least a 2-year warranty on all saddle stools, whether it is a model with a Cross base or wheels. The warranty covers manufacturing defects in the frame, mechanism and upholstery, so you’re covered if something breaks during normal use in the salon or clinic. If something breaks within the warranty period, simply contact us and we’ll find a solution.
