See the difference between classic wheels and Roller wheels for salon stools, and why Roller wheels have become the industry standard.

Two Types of Wheels: What’s the Difference?
Classic Wheels
Known from office chairs. Plastic that quickly collects hair, dust and dirt in the ball bearings, until the chair can barely roll anymore. They are simply not designed for a hair salon.
Roller Wheels
Developed specifically for salon use, with a hair-repellent cover that protects the ball bearing itself, and antistatic rubber that prevents hair and dust from accumulating. They roll effortlessly, even with the slightest movement, and hair collects on the outside of the wheel rather than inside it, so you can easily remove it if it manages to get stuck at all.
The Classic Wheels
The only real advantage is that most hairdressers are already familiar with them. Some are even used to their chair barely rolling because the wheels are often clogged, and if the floor is slightly sloped, that is actually an “advantage”, because at least the chair will not roll away on its own. From a functional point of view, this is far from optimal.
Why Roller Wheels Have Become the Standard
They are designed so you can spend your time working instead of struggling with a chair that refuses to move.
Hair-Repellent Cover
No more picking or cutting hair out of the wheels.
Antistatic Rubber
No static electricity builds up to attract hair and dust.
Long Service Life
Less wear and tear because the wheels are not constantly exposed to hair pulling at the ball bearings.
What If the Chair Rolls Away?
Roller Wheels roll exceptionally easily. If your floor is slightly uneven or sloped, you may notice that the chair “slides” away on its own when you are not sitting in it. For most people, it is simply a matter of getting used to, but it is still a sign of quality, not a fault.
My Clear Recommendation
I always recommend Roller Wheels for salon stools in a professional salon. They give you a better working environment, less maintenance and an efficiency you only really appreciate after experiencing the alternative for years. See our salon stools with Roller Wheels here.
In Short
Classic wheels may seem familiar, but they are not made for a salon where hair and dust are constantly landing on the floor. Do you still have office chair wheels under your salon stool? Contact me, and we will find the right solution for you.
