Head Spa is a Japanese wellness concept that focuses more on massage than hair washing. Here you will find the complete setup from Takara Belmont, Yume washing units, Spa Mist hair steamers and Headbath accessories, all in one place, so you can put the concept together without shopping from several different suppliers.
There are four things worth considering before you invest.
Yume DX is the top model, with motorised height adjustment of the entire system, so the unit can be adapted to each hairdresser without manual adjustment. Yume Noble and the classic Yume are mid-range models, while Yume Espoir is the most affordable entry point to the concept, with a simpler but still ergonomic design. If you want to introduce Head Spa for the first time without immediately investing in the top model, Espoir is a natural place to start.
Headbath is an accessory for the Yume washing units that adds a gentle flow of water over the scalp during washing. Spa Mist is a freestanding hair steamer used during the treatment itself, not just while washing. Both can be added later if your budget does not stretch to the full concept right away, but many choose to start with Yume alone and expand when they see demand from their customers.
A complete Head Spa area takes up more space than a regular washing station because the customer lies horizontally throughout the treatment, and the unit itself must be able to recline fully. Measure the space before ordering, especially if Head Spa is to be placed next to existing washing stations, and consider whether you have enough room for the customer to relax completely without feeling in the way of the rest of the salon. If you only have space for one station, it is worth placing it somewhere with a little peace and quiet around it, as a large part of the experience is allowing the customer to fully switch off.
A Head Spa setup is a larger investment than a regular washing unit, so most of our customers choose the full concept from the start, simply in a more affordable Yume model than DX, rather than buying only the washing unit and adding the rest later. We help you create a business plan for the investment so it can pay for itself through what you can charge for the Head Spa treatment itself. We also often recommend that customers wait or decide against it if the concept is not right for their salon. It needs to make sense for your particular business, rather than simply being another piece of equipment. Contact us, and we will help you find out whether it is the right investment for you.
Yume DX is the best-selling model in the range and is available in black, white, green and dark blue. Yume Espoir is the most popular choice for salons introducing Head Spa for the first time. Spa Mist II is available both on a stand and on a trolley, so you can choose a fixed or mobile setup. Headbath is sold as an accessory for all Yume models.
Yume is the washing system itself and the heart of the Head Spa experience, where the customer lies horizontally throughout the treatment instead of reclining in a regular washing unit. The range spans from the affordable Espoir to the top model DX with motorised height adjustment. Explore the full range of Yume washing units if you are ready to compare the models and find the right one for your salon.
Spa Mist II operates at around 40 degrees instead of the high heat of traditional steamers and is used during the hair treatment itself, not just while washing. It is available both on a fixed stand and on a trolley, so you can choose whether it should stay in one place or be moved between stations. Explore the full range of Spa Mist if you want to add it to your Head Spa concept.
Headbath is the Yume accessory that adds a gentle flow of water over the scalp during washing, as part of the treatment experience rather than merely a practical necessity. It is mounted directly on the Yume washing units and can be added without replacing the unit itself. Explore Headbath if you want to include the complete water-experience accessory in your setup.
The Yume treatment stool is available in two models, both designed to give you optimal ergonomics during long Head Spa treatments. The stool allows you to treat the customer using your whole body by slowly tilting forwards and backwards, instead of stretching your arms throughout the treatment. This significantly reduces strain on your shoulders and back compared with a fixed working position where you have to reach forwards each time. Explore Yume treatment stools to see how they match the washing units in design and finish.
All Head Spa equipment in this range is from Takara Belmont, the Japanese brand that has developed the Yume concept through decades of experience with salon furniture and Japanese craftsmanship. Here you will find the entire Head Spa range from Takara Belmont in one place, from the washing system itself to accessories such as Spa Mist and Headbath, so you do not have to put the concept together across several different suppliers.
Head Spa has its roots in Japanese haircare and wellness culture, where the scalp is treated as an independent part of the body’s wellbeing, not merely something that needs to be washed. In recent years, the concept has come to Europe as a way of turning a regular hair wash into an experience in its own right, and that is the idea Yume, Spa Mist and Headbath are designed to support together.
Four things are always included, regardless of which Head Spa equipment you choose. Price match: We are happy to match the price of an item, so you always get the best price. Fast shipping: No hidden fees or delivery costs associated with your order. 14-day returns: If you change your mind, we are ready to help. Terms apply. 2-year warranty: We always offer at least a 2-year warranty on our furniture and equipment. Made-to-order items and products in special colours are exempt from the general right of return. See the full terms in our terms and conditions.
Not sure which Head Spa setup is right for your salon? Try Yume, Spa Mist and Headbath together in our showroom in Viborg, where Klaus Østergaard will help you put together the right concept.
Yume is the washing unit itself, where the customer lies horizontally instead of reclining as they would in a regular washing unit. Spa Mist is a freestanding hair steamer used during the hair treatment itself, not just while washing, and can therefore also be used without Yume. Headbath is an accessory for Yume that adds a flow of water over the scalp during washing. The three can be used separately, but are most often used together to create the complete Head Spa experience, where washing, steam and scalp treatment come together as one journey for the customer, from the moment they sit down until they get up again.
You can, but most of our customers actually choose the full concept from the start: Yume, Spa Mist and Headbath together, simply in a more affordable Yume model than the top model DX. This gives the customer a more coherent experience from the beginning rather than building the concept in stages. If you are unsure what makes the most sense for your salon and budget, we are happy to help you work it out so the investment matches what you can realistically charge for the treatment.
A Head Spa treatment typically takes between 45 and 90 minutes, depending on how much of the concept you include. Think of it as a massage, not a hair wash; this is the time the customer is actually paying for. Many salons therefore price Head Spa as a standalone service rather than an add-on to a haircut, precisely because the time involved and the experience are significantly greater than with a regular wash. It also makes it easier to communicate the value to the customer when it appears as its own treatment on the price list instead of being hidden as an extra service.
Takara Belmont has developed the Yume concept through decades of experience with Japanese salon furniture and is still the brand around which the Head Spa concept was originally built. Here you get the original concept, not an imitation that tries to look the same without the same construction and choice of materials. This also means you can rely on spare parts and support for the same model in the years ahead, instead of having to search for parts that fit an imitation that may no longer exist in a few years.
You get at least a 2-year warranty on all Head Spa equipment, whether it is a Yume washing unit, a Spa Mist hair steamer or the Headbath accessory. The warranty covers manufacturing defects in the frame, mechanics and electrical components, including the motor in Yume DX, so you are covered if an electrical component fails during normal use. Please note that special colours and customised models are exempt from the general 14-day right of return because they are produced specifically for your order and cannot be resold as standard items to another customer.
