A shampoo shelf keeps your products together and within reach while you wash and care for your client’s hair. Our shampoo shelves are developed specifically for the large litre bottles used daily in a salon: shampoo, conditioner, treatment, colour and everything else that takes up the most space in a washing area. Our selection covers four variants from Ästetik: two shampoo shelves specifically developed for the washing area, and two Slim shelves in the same aluminium, which many salons also use for shampoo and care products.
The shampoo shelves are developed specifically to hold litre bottles of shampoo, conditioner, treatment and colour—in other words, the large, heavy products that take up the most space in a washing area. An ordinary, lightweight shelf is often not built for that weight when you place several full litre bottles next to one another. If you have many different products in use at the same time, for example for colour treatments, it is worth considering how many bottles you actually need space for at once before choosing a model.
All four shelves are made of aluminium and then powder-coated. This makes them resistant to shampoo, colour and other chemicals that inevitably come into contact with the shelf in a washing area. An ordinary shelf made of untreated metal or wood will eventually be damaged by daily contact with products and moisture, while the powder-coated surface is specifically designed to withstand this. It is therefore worth looking for the same type of surface treatment, regardless of which model you choose.
Shampoo Black and Shampoo White are designed specifically as shampoo shelves for the washing area, built to hold heavy litre bottles of shampoo and care products. Slim Black and Slim White are the same type of aluminium shelf, but are designed for broader use and are also used as display shelves and towel shelves elsewhere in the salon. If you choose the Shampoo version, you get a shelf designed for this exact purpose from the outset. If you choose Slim, you get a shelf that you can potentially move or reuse elsewhere in the salon if you change the layout later.
Both models are available with black or white powder coating. Black creates a darker, more industrial look, while white works better in bright, minimalist washing areas. There is no difference in durability or function between the colours; the choice is purely aesthetic and should match the rest of the furnishings around the washing units, such as fittings or washing units in the same colour. If you already have black or white washing units in the salon, it is usually easiest to match the shelf to them so the washing area feels cohesive.
The shampoo shelf should be within reach of the washing unit, so you can reach the products without leaving the client during a treatment. Most people mount the shelf directly on the wall behind or beside the washing unit, at a height where you can easily reach for shampoo and conditioner while sitting or standing. If there are several washing units in the same area, it may make sense to have a shelf at each station, so you avoid sharing products back and forth between stylists.
Like Ästetik’s other Slim and Shampoo shelves, these models are quickly mounted on the wall with just a few screws, so you do not need to call in a tradesperson to install a single shelf. Make sure you mount it on a wall that can support the weight of full bottles and wet products over time. Plasterboard often requires a wall plug or installation directly into a stud behind it, while a brick wall is rarely a problem.
The two dedicated shampoo shelves are priced slightly higher than the two Slim shelves because the Shampoo version is designed specifically for the washing area, while Slim is a more versatile shelf used for several purposes in the salon. If you need to install several shelves at multiple washing units, it may be worth comparing whether the slightly more expensive shampoo shelf or the less expensive Slim shelf makes the most sense for your salon, depending on whether you need the flexibility.

This is a different and more specific property than ordinary moisture resistance: a shampoo shelf is typically closer to products that may drip or spray than most other shelves in the salon. You therefore do not need to worry about the surface being damaged, even when the shelf is used daily.
Most people mount the shelf directly behind or beside the washing unit, at a height where you can easily reach the products without standing up or leaving the client during a hair wash. If you have several washing units in the same area, it may make sense to install a shelf at each station instead of sharing products between stylists. It is a good idea to map out the washing area in advance so you can make sure the shelf does not get in the way of fittings or other equipment.
No, the two dedicated shampoo shelves, Shampoo Black and Shampoo White, are only available in black or white powder-coated aluminium. If you would prefer a brushed steel shelf, Slim Steel from the same Ästetik range is available, but it is sold under our towel shelves and display shelves, not as a dedicated shampoo shelf. The steel shelf has its own coating, making it suitable for the washing area in the same way as the powder-coated aluminium shelves, so you are not limited to black and white if you prefer a steel look. In any case, black and white suit most salon interiors, whether you have a bright or dark washing area.
Yes, especially the Slim versions. Slim Black and Slim White, which are part of this collection, are also used as display shelves for showcasing products and as towel shelves behind the washing units elsewhere in the salon.
