At Just Add People, you’ll find footrests for floor mounting and freestanding models in stainless steel, chrome, brass and several colours. Most clients sit in the chair for 30–60 minutes during a treatment, and a good footrest makes that time more comfortable for both the client and the hairdresser.
There are five things worth considering before you place your order:
A floor-mounted footrest, such as Comfortel’s Blast II or Comet, stays securely in one place and is a good choice if you rarely rearrange your salon. A freestanding model, such as Supernova or Mirplay’s Bodd, can be moved between treatment stations, which is practical if you switch between cutting, colouring and styling several times a day. If you have several clients in different chairs at the same time, freestanding is often the most flexible solution.
Stainless steel is the most common choice. It withstands daily disinfection and keeps its finish without scratching. The footrests are also available in chrome, brass and powder-coated black, depending on whether you want to match or contrast with the rest of the chair’s finish. Brass and gold, such as Mirplay’s Godd, create a more exclusive look, while black and chrome are the most neutral and easiest to combine.
Most footrests are round or oval and sized to fit beneath a standard styling chair. If space beneath the chair is limited, measure it before ordering. A freestanding model can always be moved if it turns out to be in the way, while a floor-mounted model stays in place once it has been installed.
Footrests range from simple steel models to more exclusive finishes in gold or brass. Most salons start with one footrest per station and add more as they bring in additional chairs. It is one of the smaller investments in salon design, but also one that clients notice directly during every treatment.
Four things are always included, whatever you order. Price match: We’re happy to match the price of an item, so you always get the best price. Fast shipping: No hidden fees or delivery charges associated with your order. 14-day returns: If you change your mind, we’re here to help. Terms and conditions apply. 2-year warranty: We always offer at least a 2-year warranty on our furniture and equipment. You can find the full terms in our terms and conditions.
Comet from Comfortel is available in black and brass and is one of the best-selling floor-mounted models. Blast II, also from Comfortel, is available in black and chrome for floor mounting. Supernova is the most popular freestanding model, available in black, white and stainless steel. Bodd from Mirplay is a freestanding model in stainless steel, while Godd from the same brand offers a more exclusive look in gold. FR-Round from Takara Belmont is available in both black and a striking pink if you want to stand out.
If you prefer a solution that you can move around as needed, we have a dedicated selection of freestanding footrests from Comfortel, Mirplay, Takara Belmont, Kiela and Olymp. Freestanding models are particularly practical if your salon has several treatment stations that share equipment, or if you want the flexibility to reorganise the salon without having to remove anything first. See the full selection of freestanding footrests.
If you’re replacing your styling chairs anyway, it may be simpler to choose models with a built-in footrest from the start rather than adding one separately afterwards. This saves space and creates a more cohesive look at the workstation, as the footrest is designed to match the chair’s height and finish precisely instead of being a loose accessory that never quite fits. See the full selection of styling chairs with footrests.
Footrests and leg rests are sometimes confused, but they serve different needs in the salon. If you offer treatments where the client needs to recline for a longer period, such as foot treatments or relaxation treatments, a leg rest is the better solution, as it supports the entire leg rather than just the feet. Many salons have both: one type for everyday cutting and colouring services, and another for more extensive treatments. See the full selection of leg rests.
Our footrests come from a handful of well-known manufacturers in the industry:
We have been helping hairdressers for more than 30 years, and 96% of our customers would shop with us again or recommend us to others. Experience our furniture and equipment in person before you decide, at our showroom in Viborg, where several of the footrests are part of the permanent display.
No, most of our footrests are universal and can be used independently of which styling chair you have. Freestanding models require no installation and are simply placed in front of the chair, while floor-mounted models have a standard size that fits most styling chairs on the market. If you’re unsure about the measurements or placement, especially if you have an older or non-standard chair, feel free to contact us and we’ll help you find the right solution before you order.
A footrest supports the client’s feet during everyday treatments such as cutting and colouring, when the client is sitting in a normal, upright position. A leg rest is designed for longer treatments such as pedicures or wellness treatments, where the entire leg needs to rest in a more reclined position. If your salon mainly offers regular cutting and colouring services, a footrest is the right choice. See leg rests if you need the other option.
Yes. Several models are part of the permanent display in our showroom in Viborg, where you can see and feel them before you decide. This is particularly useful for footrests, as weight, stability and how the surface feels beneath the foot can be difficult to assess from a picture alone. We recommend booking an appointment in advance so an advisor can show you which models best suit your styling chairs.
Stainless steel and chrome are easiest to keep clean and withstand daily disinfection best without the surface becoming dull or scratched over time. Brass and gold finishes require a little more care, as alcohol-based products can affect the shine over time. For these finishes, we recommend normal cleaning with a soft cloth and mild soapy water instead. If your salon carries out many treatments each day, stainless steel is often the most practical choice.
Yes, but it is a different product category. Ordinary footrests are designed to hold the feet in a slightly raised position during cutting and colouring, not to support the entire foot during a foot treatment. Instead, see our pedicure chairs, which are designed specifically for this purpose, with space for a foot bath and proper support for the leg during the treatment.
